Book Review: A Time to Seek by Tracy Higley

Guys! This book!!! I can’t even right now. My mind is blown and I have sooooo many questions I can’t wait to get the answers to.

Her Future Destiny is Hidden in the Ancient Past.

Sahara Aldridge, a young Egyptologist in 1922, is making a name for herself on the digsite soon to become Egypt’s most sensational discovery—the tomb of the boy-king, Tutankhamun.

Despite opposition from a mostly-male profession, Sahara fights to continue the legacy of her Egyptologist parents, who died tragically at sea when she was a teen.

But then a childhood friend finds a lost journal written by Sahara’s mother, hinting at the bizarre possibility of time-travel, and a crazy suspicion forces Sahara to confront a freak incident years earlier…

Is it possible her parents were time travelers?

And has she inherited this mind-blowing ability?

When the American journalist Jack Moretti begins asking too many questions, Sahara suspects he knows more than he’s telling.

Did her parents truly perish in an accident? Or did someone target and murder them because of their time traveling gift?

There’s only one way to unearth the truth.

Sahara must travel back in time, to the days of King Tut.

But the biggest surprise is yet to come… the truth about her parents, and about her own destiny, discovered in the whispers of conspiracy around the death of Egypt’s most famous Pharaoh.

But what secrets are better left buried?

I love reading about ancient civilizations and I love time travel books, so when I heard that Tracy Higley had released a book about a 1920’s Egyptologist that time travels back to ancient Egypt, I was like, “TAKE MY MONEY!” LOL!!! I am so happy I finally got to read this book and even more happy that it did not disappoint me. It was an exciting and mind-bending adventure from the opening line to the closing sentence.

This is the third time travel book I’ve read this year, and each of them have had very unique modes of getting their characters into the past. The actual way of traveling back in time is pretty simple here, but the idea of there being specific people that are born with the ability to time travel, the secret society they are a part of, and all of the rules they have to abide by make Tracy’s version of time travel SO interesting! The Tempus Vigilia sort of calls to mind the TVA (Time Variance Authority) from Marvel’s Loki series, which I loved.

Typically in a book like this, the character traveling back in time is from our own present day, but I loved how Tracy chose to have her character be from 1922. This allowed there to be a fun mix of two different eras that are both foreign compared to our own and made this book even more unique.

Overall, this was a stellar read that I absolutely adored. It left me happy and fulfilled and yet dying for answers. I literally shook the book and said, “WHATTTT?!?!?!” after finishing it. LOL! It’s hard to describe what made me feel like this without giving away too much, so all I can say is just go read the book yourself. You’ll thank me for it, I’m sure! ?

5/5 Stars for book one in a brilliant new series. I can’t wait to read book two and continue my journey through time with Sahara Aldridge!
