Review: Finding Lady Enderly by Joanna Davidson Politano

I knew this book was going to be good, but it ended up being even better than I expected. Finding Lady Enderly kept me on my toes until, literally, the last chapter!

Raina Bretton is a rag woman in London’s east end when a handsome stranger appears in a dank alley and offers her a glittering smile and a chance for adventure. Rothburne Abbey has a unique position for her, one that will take her away from her hardscrabble life and give her a chance to be a lady. Things she could only dream of might be coming true. But some dreams turn out to be nightmares.

Though Raina has traded squalor for silk and satin, something about the abbey is deeply unsettling. As she wrestles with her true identity, the ruin, decay, and secrets she finds at the heart of the old mansion tear at her confidence and threaten to reveal her for who she really is. Only one man stands between her and the danger that lurks within-and only if he decides to keep her biggest secret hidden.

Joanna Davidson Politano is a master at weaving a complicated, unpredictable mystery. Several times, I thought I knew how the plot was going to unfold, but every time, I was proven wrong. The true “identity” of Lady Enderly was not at all what I expected. Seriously, I’m sure my shocked expression was a sight to behold when I got to that part. All the way to the last chapter, I was not sure how the mystery and the love story would wrap up. I ended up staying up until after 1 AM reading the last few chapters because I just HAD TO KNOW if and how and when Raina would get her happy ending.

Speaking of happy endings, the hero in this book is seriously swoon-worthy. He’s Irish, for one, plays the fiddle, writes songs for the heroine, is unconditionally in love with her (and has been so since they were children), is her constant supporter and protector, and… did I mention he loves books? In fact, he sends her love notes through the words of Austen, Brontë, and Dickens. **Sigh** See what I mean? This hero and this love story is a special one.

If you love a good Victorian romance and a hard-to-unravel mystery, then you definitely need to read Finding Lady Enderly! But be sure to hold on to your seat, because this one has more twists and turns than a roller coaster-in the best way!

4.5/5 Stars!
